Volunteer opportunity

Mount Vernon mission volunteers,

The Virginia Center for Restorative Justice is looking for volunteers for their work in resolving conflict in a redeeming way.

  •   One of their programs is a 10 week class on How to Handle Conflict.
    •  The VCRJ facilitates these programs in nearby Virginia State Correctional Facilities.
    •  In this program, pairs of trained and experienced Restorative Justice Facilitators lead discussions on values for handling conflict and living in a community with incarcerated people.
    •   VCRJ is looking to train more volunteers to expand this program to other prisons in the area.)

Judy Clark, a Mount Vernon member and executive director of VCRJ, will be holding a training event on August 10, 9-12 am at Mount Vernon Baptist in Room 206.  If you are interested in finding out more about this training and volunteering for this organization, please contact Terry Moore (TerryMoore@vcrj.org).
